Something that I connected with was..."With the resources available today for use in the classroom such as interactive software, digital imagine, audio and video creation tools, on-demand video libraries, computers and LCD projectors, and Web 2.0 tools, the hardest job may be choosing which tool to use and how to integrate it into the classroom."
We have all these great resources, but how do we use the in the classroom? How do we incorporate it throughout the day? These are some of the questions that I have. We have laptops and Ipads in our school. A lot of the times, the laptops are being used to play IXL and the Ipads are being used to play IXL also, or games. Educational games are great, but we can do so much more with these, but what can we do? I think that teachers all need to take a class on how to integrate technology in their classrooms and how to use the equipment. Most of the time, the students know how to use the laptops, Ipads, etc, more than the teacher.
We need to be kept up to speed on all the changes that are happening in technology. I feel that if we give our students as much exposure to technology that they will become more successful once they are in high school, college, or in the "real" world.
I agree! There ought to be a course/class out there just for teachers working in the trenches day in and day out. As a teacher working full time and wearing multiple hats, I do not have time to search the internet for apps and programs that I could use in my classroom. If someone could tell me "this app is great for..." or "With this program you could...", that would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteAnother issue with computer and web based learning is that there is a lot of volatility with those apps. Sometimes a program is only developed for a few years and the developer moves onto another project or people start to choose next big thing. Think of the Myspace => Facebook transition.
ReplyDeleteWendy and David, you both make great points. It would definitely be easier if someone could hand us a list of what websites or apps would be good for certain topics. David, you are correct. Technology is changing constantly. It would be nice to get monthly newsletters telling about new apps or websites that would be helpful in our classrooms.
